To provide an avenue for the community to participate in the performing arts; to develop the skills of our members and others in the theater arts (acting, directing, technical and administrative); to offer a variety of entertaining and cultural productions; and, to expand the number of people exposed to the arts through theatrical productions and activities.

HAIRSPRAY
Don't miss the chance to participate in this Tony Award winning musical that has danced its way into the hearts of audiences for decades! "It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire -- to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her new-found power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and tackle racial inequality in a TV network, all without denting her 'do!" Book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, based on the New Line Cinema film written by John Waters.

Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr.
Spotlight Players present a Spotlight On Youth production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr., with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman & Glenn Slater, book by Doug Wright, music adapted and arranged by David Weinstein, and based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney film. Presented through special arrangement by Music Theatre International. An adventurous mermaid princess falls in love with a human in this classic fairy tale brought to life in this Disney musical. Follow the adventure and drama as Ariel struggles to win the heart of her prince, despite the machinations of an evil sorceress, intent on using her to take dominion over the entire ocean. Baby Tremaine dissembles to her sister, saying she is employed by a respected priest. Now the sister is coming to meet “Father O’Meara,” who really runs a speakeasy, and Baby’s lie will be revealed. Can this crazy gang pull the wool over her sister's eyes, or will more things be revealed than anyone bargained for.

Spotlight Players Scholarship Program
Spotlight Players is very proud to announce the winners of our 2013 Scholarship Program! Congratulations to Megan Johnson and Rachel Smith! Each year, Spotlight Players gives $250 to two students from a middle or high school to use in a theater or arts related program. Previous recipients have used the scholarship to attend Blue Lake and Interlochen just to name a couple.
Essay Contest Winners Announced

As part of our promotional efforts for our staged production of the musical Barnum, Spotlight Players sponsored an essay contest within the local schools. Students were asked to answer the question, "Why would you like to join the circus?" Out of numerous entries, four were selected and received free tickets to come see Cy Coleman's take on "The Greatest Show on Earth!" Congratulations to Anna Coyne (5th grade), Kendall Goit (7th grade), Liam Reidy (4th grade), and Lina Olson (6th grade), all from Canton, for winning the essay contest!
